I'm a 50 - something professional woman and aspire to be stylish! I have been wondering if a capsule wardrobe might help me. I would love to simplify my morning "What to wear" dilemma and save myself some time and faff. I want to feel comfortable but look well put together. I have lost some confidence over the years and I think shaking up my wardrobe might help me rediscover my mojo. Where do I start? Thank you!

You're not alone! I see so many women who have lost their style mojo in their 50s.
I love a Capsule Wardrobe! Anything that simplifies choice is good for me.
In my experience, what each of us needs varies according to our body shape, personality and lifestyle. Planning is the key, a good capsule doesn't just happen!
Simple steps to take before you even set foot in the shops are:
Look at what you do with your time and what you need your clothes to do for you
Look objectively at your body shape and colouring to see what styles and shapes suit YOU
Pattern – most of us are quite cautious with patterns, so if you have patterned tops and bottoms, you are likely to limit the combinations you can make
Colour - working from one colour palette makes mixing and matching easier
Time of year - I tweak my wardrobe seasonally
Set a realistic budget to enable quality purchases - you want these items to last. Think cost per wear
You can have as many capsules as you like - work, home, gym, jewellery.....
An easy wardrobe I do regularly to show my clients is
Eight tops
Two jeans
Two trousers
Two skirts
Two dresses/jumpsuits
Two jackets
Five pairs of shoes/boots
One good coat
Plus a good bag, two belts plus jewellery and accessories
This gives over 700 combinations - not hugely different but you get the idea...
Here's a mini capsule I am using for a two--week demo
Check out your wardrobe first for what you already have and love! A capsule works best when you love the clothes and can't wait to wear them!
Hope that helps
