Hi there, I'm mid-50s and have been on HRT for a few years now (combined patches and tablets). My GP didn't really know how long I can stay on it but if I find it really helpful, can I stay on it forever?

Hello, great question that we get often asked. It is recommended that all women on HRT have an annual review with their heralth care professional and as part of that review, a discussion is had about the risks and benefits of HRT and how these can change over time. We follow the British Menopasue Society recommendation of every women should be on an individualised regimen and that is at the lowest, most effective and most tolerated dose from them. So the answer is there is no limit, but a fully informed discussion should be had to ensure it is the right regimen for you. Hope that helps
With best wishes
