I'm on combined patches and progesterone tablets but sometimes I forget to take my tablet before bed. Should I take one the next morning when I remember or forget it and just take one the next evening? Also I'd read somewhere that you should take them 2 hours after eating. Is this true or does it not matter if it's only occasionally? Thank you

Good questions. Progesterone tablets are usually recommended to be taken at night on an empty stomach as one of the side effects is, it can make you feel drowsy. Many women taking these see this as a benefit with their disrupted sleep pattern. Our bodies can also be sensitive to the timing of when hormones are taken, so forgetting to take them could lead to breakthrough bleeding. Therefore, if you occasionally forget, it is better to take it as soon as you remember, so the next morning. But if this caused you to feel excessively tired that day, then taking 2 the following evening woudl also be acceptable. Putting the tablet by somewhere you do every evening such as your toothbrush or setting a reminder alert, may help you to remember.....life can be hectic so reminders are good for us all! I hope this helps.
